OpenSolver 2.8.6 (6 Mar 2017)

We have released OpenSolver version 2.8.6 which fixes various bugs:

  • We have updated the URL for NEOS so these solvers will work again
  • Made changes to support Gurobi v7
  • Set worksheet calculation in the OpenSolver file to automatic to avoid setting it to manual for the entire Excel session when OpenSolver is loaded. Thanks to the users that reported this issue.
  • Other minor bugfixes

You can get the new version here.

As always, please let us know about any issues you might have, or features you would like to see in future releases!

  1. I have a problem where OS2.8.6 is taking a long time to find a feasible solution. I can provide a feasible solution in the spreadsheet (easy). Is it possible/helpful to provide this solution to OS to get it started with a feasible solution? If so, can there be an option to tell OS the existing spreadsheet solution is a feasible solution?

    Thanks … OS is great!

    1. If the solution in the sheet is feasible then this already works, with the notable exception of the Cbc solver which doesn’t supporting starting from an existing solution in the way we use it.

  2. Hi, first of all, thank you so much for such an amazing solver, it has been very easy to implement and the results are promising!

I am experiencing a bug that, for what I’ve seen, it is not the first time it happens. Whenever I execute OpenSolver via Macro, I am getting the infamous “Automation Error”. I think it may have to do with the fact that the opensolver .xlam was moved from a local hard drive to a network drive, but I have deleted every reference to OpenSolver, and reinstalled it again. As a matter of fact, the list of references is not showing any missing reference, so that should not be a problem.

Do you know of any workaround I could use?

    Thanks a lot!

  3. Hi,

I have trouble with the “Maximum Solution Time (seconds): ” solver option. When I specify 30 seconds as the maximum time, the calculations do not stop after the 30 seconds have past.

It does not work in this version, nor in the previous one. Do you have any idea why this option does not work?
